Going on a road trip on motorcycle, also known as touring, is one of the best ways to enjoy Indonesia̢۪s nature and breathtaking landscapes.
Dody Johanjaya, an outdoor enthusiast active in the world of adventure touring, travels around Indonesia frequently with his touring community on his “steel horseâ€.
As quoted by kompas.com, Dody said throughout his motorcycling travels, he had visited the islands of Java, Bali, Sumatra, Flores, Lombok and Sumbawa.
Below is a list of places that Dody recommends visiting while touring:
Flores
According to Dody, Flores is place that brings lots of joy as the roads are comfortable to ride on.
“There are komodo dragons, mountains, valleys, the ocean, rivers, Lake Kelimutu; and for cultural sites there is Bena and Wae Rebo. It is a very complete and beautiful [destination],†said Dody.
Dody also suggested that to enjoy the best route in Flores, a touring enthusiast should take a ride from Labuan Bajo to Larantuka. The route itself can be taken in a span of one week.

West Sumatra
The amazing view of West Sumatra̢۪s coastline made the region Dody̢۪s second touring destination recommendation.
Dody said his favorite route when touring West Sumatra was one from Padang where he mostly enjoys visiting Lake Above the Clouds located in Bukittinggi, then Lembah Harau, and up t o Lake Singkarak.
South Sulawesi
When exploring South Sulawesi, Dody recommends taking a route from Makassar, then Toraja, all the way to Palu. He says this route will not bore drivers as it takes them on a journey through cities, forests and mountains.
On the way to Palu, touring enthusiasts will be met with rough roads made of sand and stones, but additionally the roads along this route are relatively good, so travelers will be able to enjoy a comfortable ride.
Mount Bromo
Bromo is the number one destination for many touring enthusiasts as the different terrains are a point of interest for many riders.
To get to the Bromo area, travelers will be able to feel the winding roads of Batu, the uphill roads of Tengger and the sand filled area of Bromo itself. Dody suggests riders start at Batu when getting to Bromo as the route is a big adventure.
Travelers can also stop at several to urist attractions and villages to add to their adventure. (anm/kes)
