Kempinski to expand in Indonesia with new resort

Kempinski will open the Apurva Kempinski Bali in the fourth quarter of 2018 as the company̢۪s second hotel in Indonesia.

The beachfront Kempinski resort has 475 guestrooms, suites and villas. Architect Budiman Hendropurnomo of Denton Corker Marshall and interior designer Rudy Dodo of Trivium Design Group partnered to design the property.

“We are excited to welcome The Apurva Kempinski Bali and add this iconic property to our hotel portfolio. From its unique architecture to artfully curated interior design, The Apurva Kempinski Bali will present itself as a majestic open-air theatre in which the guests will have the opportunity to experie nce the wonders of this unique island,” Michael Henssler, COO Asia for Kempinski Hotels and member of the management board, said in a statement.

The upcoming hotel will begin operating during the same period as the Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore slated to open in the downtown civic district. Perennial Real Estate Holdings will own and manage the property, which will be converting from three heritage buildings. The 157-room Kempinski hotel will be part of the mixed-use development Capitol Singapore within the restored Capitol Building and Stamford House. It will be next to the Eden Residences Capitol, the Capitol Theatre and the Capitol Piazza shopping and entertainment area.

The Kempinski Resid ences Guangzhou will also open in the fourth quarter of 2018 in China. The 261-room property is in the center of the YueXiu district near the shopping and businesses of the area.

These additions to the Kempinski portfolio are part of the company’s expansion across Asia. Kempinski currently has 26 operating hotels in the region. These include one additional hotel in Indonesiaâ€"the 289-room Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta.
