A strong earthquake measuring a magnitude of 6.0 hit near the Sumba region of Indonesia early Tuesday local time. The country was affected by a devastating tsunami last week.
Within the next several hours, the same area experienced two additional earthquakes, both measuring magnitude 5.5 or higher.

< br/>The tremors were recorded near Nggongi, Indonesia. Nggongi is located several hundred miles south of Sulawesi, the area dealing with the aftermath of a devastating quake and tsunami which hit on Friday.
More than 840 people died from that powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake which triggered a tsunami.

According to the US Geological Survey, four earthquakes measuring up to 6.0 magnitude have hit off the coast of an Indonesian island within a day of each other.
The quakes have grown in strength, measuring 5.0, 5.4, 5.9 and 6.0 on the Richter scale. Most recently, a pair of 5.0 magnitude quakes impacted the island on Tuesday morning.
A magnitude 6.0 earthquake can cause extensive damage to buildings and residential areas.
